ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a full-time time Events Set Up Operations Manager for the Knoxville Convention Center and World’s Fair Exhibition Hall. This position will oversee operations staff for all aspects of facility maintenance. Reports directly to the Director of Operations and is responsible for the scheduling and supervision of all building housekeeping and set-up personnel employed by the Knoxville Convention Center (KCC) and World’s Fair Exhibition Hall (the W). Also, the position will ensure the building is kept in a clean and orderly manner as well as effective coordination between the Event Services staff and the Operations Department floor staff to efficiently carry out all client requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises all building floor lead supervisors and maintenance workers. Maintain daily cleanliness of buildings. Schedules the work shifts of the employees to ensure proper coverage of all event requirements as well as efficient completion of routine housekeeping tasks. Works with the Director of Operations and Event Services to develop programs to increase efficiency and productivity of all building operations employees. Assists in the development and implementation of capital and operating budgets. Assists in development, implementation, administration and review of a comprehensive safety and emergency procedures program for all employees and users. Coordinates all event set-up requirements between Event Services staff, Food and Beverage Staff, and Operations Floor staff to ensure that communications of all requirements is affected. Prepare daily work task sheets for all Floor Supervisors and ensures that they are completed. Deals directly with all outside contractors to make sure they continue to service the facility according to their contractual obligations. Oversees all building rental equipment. Identifies housekeeping needs within the facility, assigns them and ensures that they are carried out satisfactory. Trains staff in specifics of the responsibilities and expectations and works with staff to develop and maintain service-oriented attitudes. Working supervision of staff, preparation of work schedules and oversees maintenance and repair of equipment. Provide support and assistance for repair and maintenance of all mechanical systems including electronics, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, etc. Responsible for the cleanliness of the facility. Ensure adherence to safety codes/laws. Analyze needs and plan preventative maintenance and upgrades for systems. Ability to write reports, policies and procedures. Responsible for payroll for department’s employees. Keep accurate records on all matters concerning subordinates and sign all required reports. Such reports would include the following: attendance cards, disciplinary reports, incident reports, performance evaluations, payroll records, status reports. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Possesses a strong attention to detail and the ability and initiative to maintain the facility as a first-class facility. Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Outlook, Microsoft word and excel. Good verbal communication skills as well as writing skills. Ability to work well with people. Ability to adhere to strict grooming standards established by SMG. Ability to perform basic math functions Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task. Ability to execute large functions. Ability to read printed words and numbers in printed form and on computer/terminal monitor. Must be able to pass criminal background check and have a valid driver’s license

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalent education required. 2-4 years supervisory experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Performing work through repetitive eye/hand coordination. Daily lifting up to 50 lbs. Up to 5 minutes at a time. See and distinguish objects or symbols as 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less. Depth perception, peripheral vision, ability to distinguish color and bringing objects into focus. Climbing ladders and staircases multiple times per day. Constant standing, walking, stooping. Constant reaching, handling products. Ability to work extended hours productively. Fast-paced, very physical environment. Requires standing and walking for several hours at a time each day.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

Position may be subject to noise and some atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odor, dust, etc.
