Job Summary The Custodial Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, organization, and supervision of custodial operations to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and faculty. This role involves managing a team of custodial supervisors, foremen, and staff, including hiring, training, evaluating, and implementing progressive discipline when necessary. The manager conducts regular building inspections, ensures compliance with housing standards and safety regulations, and works closely with Facilities Management leadership to provide support for special events, department moves, and emergency situations. In addition to staff oversight, the Custodial Manager monitors and maintains custodial inventories, requisitions supplies and equipment, and utilizes a computerized system to track work orders and ensure service requests are completed efficiently. They are designated as essential personnel, responding to after-hours emergencies and extreme weather events to assess, report, and maintain operational safety. This position requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills to enhance custodial services and uphold high cleanliness standards across all housing facilities. PHYSICALY DEMANDS
Walking, standing, sitting, climbing, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, driving a vehicle, and use of fine and gross motor skills when operating machinery and equipment. Works in indoor and outdoor work spaces. May be exposed to heat, cold, dust, noise, fumes, wetness, chemicals, and flammable/combustible liquids. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of custodial experience.
Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Maintain and possess a valid Driver’s License. Preferred Qualifications 5-7 years previous custodial supervisor experience in a university environment;
Proficient with computers and other technology
