Role:

DIGCO, a Quanta Services Company, is actively seeking a Bore Rig Operator to join our growing team in the Shreveport, LA area. As a Bore Rig Operator, you will be responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling equipment to create underground tunnels and boreholes for the installation of utility lines, pipelines, and communication cables.

What You’ll Do:

Equipment Operation Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment, including bore rigs and associated machinery, in a safe and efficient manner. Site Preparation Assist in the setup and preparation of the work site, including positioning the rig, assembling drilling tools, and ensuring proper clearance for drilling. Safety Compliance Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Drilling Procedures Execute drilling plans and procedures according to project specifications, ensuring accuracy and precision in boring operations. Monitoring Continuously monitor the drilling process, including drilling depth, alignment, and mud flow, to maintain control and make necessary adjustments. Maintenance Perform routine maintenance and inspections on drilling equipment to ensure it remains in good working condition. Report any malfunctions or issues promptly. Utility Installation Coordinate with other crew members to install utility lines, pipelines, or communication cables through the drilled tunnels. Quality Control Ensure the drilled tunnels meet specified standards in terms of size, depth, and alignment. Documentation Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including daily logs, equipment maintenance records, and safety reports. Problem Solving Identify and address any challenges or obstacles that may arise during drilling, such as encountering rocks or underground utilities. Communication Maintain clear communication with the project supervisor and crew members to ensure project goals are met. Environmental Regulations Follow environmental regulations and best practices to minimize the impact of drilling operations on the surrounding environment.

What You’ll Bring:

High school diploma or equivalent. Certification or training in bore rig operation (preferred) Previous experience operating bore rigs or similar drilling equipment is a significant advantage. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) (preferred) Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors and potentially challenging conditions. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in drilling operations. Effective communication and teamwork skills. #LI-DG1
