Responsibilities:

The Horizontal Directional Drill Operator is responsible for all duties associated with and related to the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of Directional Drills and various mud mixing equipment.

As a Directional Drill Operator / Locator, you will support directional drilling for installation of underground conduit.

Read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for the project build process.

Operate a Horizontal Directional bore in collaboration with the Drill Locator to successfully install conduit. Operate various sized Vermeer or Ditchwitch drills.

Transport heavy equipment to and from the job site.

Load and unload equipment.

Duties will also include repairing potholes, installing hand-holes, and manholes.

Other duties would be to perform general site preparation, including surveying existing utilities.

Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks, reclaimers, and other equipment that may be necessary for job production.

Ability to properly formulate and mix drilling mud for the site conditions.

Ability to perform proper reaming and pull back methods for existing conditions.

Maintain a clean job site.

Oversee technicians and/or crew members work.

Ability to properly clean and maintain the equipment, check fluid levels, and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required reports, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment.

Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required reports (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, etc.).Follows specifications for the job and company policies.

Complies with safety procedures on and off the project site.

Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.

Must be able to lift and carry heavy materials, tools, and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more).Climbing, sitting, standing, walking, and driving for extended periods throughout work shift.

Must be able to work overtime and weekends when the job requires it.

Experience:

Directional Drilling (3 years preferred)

License/Certification:
