About the

Role:

The Electrician is responsible for repair and maintenance of all electrical systems and equipment within the hospital, POB, and clinics. Employees are required to have a vast knowledge of all aspects of electrical systems to include maintenance and repairs of systems for lighting, plugs, and electrical switches as well as exercising the emergency generators. Will perform general maintenance duties throughout the facility and outlying properties associated with the UAB Medical West. Duties include but are not limited to: lighting, plumbing, minor HVAC repairs etc. and will be required to maintain certain preventative maintenance records for various equipment. Employee will be crossed trained in all aspects of the facilities equipment and utilities management programs. Individuals must possess a common knowledge of tools; powered and non-powered that may be needed to perform these duties. Employee will be crossed trained in all aspects of the facilities equipment and utilities management programs. All other duties assigned by the Facilities Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Have at least five years related experience and or training.

Preferred Qualifications:

Valid electrician’s license or certification as required by local regulations Experience in a health care environment. Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent experience. Familiarity with electrical codes and safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

Perform routine inspections and maintenance on electrical systems and equipment. Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement effective solutions in a timely manner. Assist in the installation of new electrical systems and equipment as needed. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed. Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Skills:

The required skills for this position include a strong understanding of electrical systems and troubleshooting techniques, which are essential for diagnosing and resolving issues efficiently. Attention to detail is critical, as the Electrician I must ensure that all work complies with safety standards and regulations. Communication skills are also important, as the Electrician I will collaborate with other maintenance staff and departments to coordinate repairs and maintenance activities. Preferred skills, such as knowledge of PLC systems, will enhance the Electrician I’s ability to work with advanced health care technologies. Overall, these skills contribute to a safe and productive work environment, ensuring that manufacturing operations run smoothly.
