Position Summary
The Maintenance Lead Skilled Tradesman (Electrician) performs skilled mechanical and electrical dutiesincluding but not limited to the installation and inspection of electricalponents, transformers, and circuit breakers. This position must be able to identify electrical problems by using a variety of testing devices. The position will repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
This position will be required to travel and provide electrical service to all college locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ads to the policies, rules, and standards of Central Alabama Community College, Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, accrediting State and Federal agencies and regulatory bodies.
2. Ability to work flexible schedule, respond to unpredictable and emergency situations from any/all college locations.
3. Demonstrated ability to install and run electrical conduit.
4. Working kledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
5. Kledge of state and local building codes.
6. Kledge of energy-efficient equipment and products.
7. Use of testing equipment and hand tools.
8. Ability to work cooperatively with crafted, professional, administrative, and industry personnel in a team environment.
9. Demonstrated kledge of best practices in standard practices in construction and general maintenance.
10. Kledge of regulatory environment including workplace safety, environmental management and building codes.
11. Kledge of budget preparation and vendor contract management practices.
12. Kledge of monitoring expenditures against approved budget procedures.
13. Under the leadership of the Director, monitors the preparation and administration of an annual budget.
14. Organizes resources and establishes priorities.
15. Ability to develop and maintain aprehensive master plan for preventative maintenance.
16. Ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities.
17, Ability to gather data,pile information, and prepare reports.
18. Ability to analyze and solve problems.19.Writes specifications for renovation and construction projects that must be bid.
19. Coordinates work orders to insure the timely aplishment of projects.
20. Maintains the college’spliance with the Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) applicable to electrical installation and maintenance.
21. Communicates with vendors, architects, engineers, and contractors engaged in new construction, renovation, 24. Document repairs and modifications as assigned.
25. Works with architects, contractors, and clients.
26. Diagnoses and addresses functionality and safety issues.
27. Designs and installs indoor and outdoor electrical control, wiring and lighting systems.
28, Inspects and tests electrical systems, including fuses, transformers and circuit breakers.
29. Stay apprised of revisions to National Electric Code (NEC) and other relevant legislation, building and safety regulations.
30. Participates and coordinates maintenance coverage during holidays and unexpected events.
31. Serves as a member of the Alabama Community College System Facility and Safety Association.
32. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Associate degree in electrical technology from and accredited institution is required OR in lieu of degree, five (5) to seven (7) years of residential,mercial, or industrial electrical experience is required.
2. Experience with new builds, renovations, and restoration projects is required.
3. Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and the State of Alabama bid law, codes, standards and laws on construction and habitation of physical structures is required.
4. Kledge of the OSHA regulations and state laws regarding risk management is required.
5, Strong leadership and interpersonal skills including excellent written and oralmunication skills is required.
6. Experience with developing, documentation of and execution of plans and plan follow-up is required.
7. Experience creating standard operating procedures, management of standards specific to skilled trade is required.
8 Electrical Contractor, master electrician or journeyman electrician certification is preferred.
9. Work nothing project management requiring the application of the State of Alabama Bid Law is preferred.
