The Post-Collection Electrical Specialist is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of electrical systems and equipment used in waste management and post-collection operations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the operational efficiency, reliability, and safety of waste processing facilities ensuring that all electrical components ranging from control panels and motors to automated systems are functioning properly and comply with relevant safety and environmental regulations. The specialist works closely with operations and maintenance teams to support continuous improvement initiatives, minimize downtime, and enhance system performance. Ability to work under limited supervision and establish procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior electrical technicians and specialists. Lead complex troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts for electrical issues in post-collection processes. Develop and implement best practices and standard operating procedures for electrical maintenance and repairs. Working with other team members, including mechanical technicians, engineers, and supervisors. Conduct site assessments and provide recommendations for electrical system enhancements. Conduct routine inspections, quality assurance of completed jobs, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on electrical systems and equipment associated with waste collection and processing operations. Ensure required documentation associated with repairs and ordering equipment/ parts is completed Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency. Work with programmable logic controllers (PLCs/ VFDs), sensors, and automation systems. Complete installations and oversee upgrading of electrical systems and equipment, including wiring, control panels, and power distribution systems. Ensure that all installations comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and operational requirements. Ensure all safety protocols and regulations related to electrical systems and waste management. Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards. Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and system failures, ensuring swift resolution to minimize operational disruptions. Prepare detailed reports on the status of electrical systems and any issues encountered Adherence to safety protocols and procedures, especially when working with high voltage. Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with OSHA Standards and company policies.
Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, circuitry, and troubleshooting techniques. In depth knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) Possess in depth knowledge of building codes in South Florida Proficiency in using electrical diagnostic tools and equipment. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals. Time Management Skills What We’re Looking For:
5+ years of relevant work experience High school diploma or GED equivalent Active Journeyman License Proven experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in waste management or industrial setting. Valid driver’s license Must have their own hand tools
Physical Demands:
Extended periods of standing Extended periods of walking The role may involve working in various environmental conditions, including outdoor settings and potentially hazardous areas. Must be able to lift and carry equipment and tools and perform tasks that require physical strength and dexterity.
Travel Required:
