Department Information This position is considered Essential Personnel and may be required to work overtime on both scheduled and non-scheduled days. Position will require working emergency call-back as needed to ensure proper campus operations. Job Summary Under the supervision of Management in the Operations and Maintenance Department, this electrical position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of facility electrical systems components (0 to 600 volts AC/DC) up to and including secondary distribution panels, fire alarm systems, lighting, communication, and networking systems. Replace defective parts in electrical systems, appliances, network applications, security systems, communication, and life safety systems. Repair receptacles, switches, lighting, and various types of electrical systems throughout campus facilities. Using the standard practices of the trade, such as hand tools, voltage meters/tester, power tools, ladders, man lifts, scaffolding, lifting heavy items, working from heights and various conditions. Installation of power, receptacles, switches, lighting, and various types of electrical systems throughout campus facilities. Installs network cabling, terminates, and tests. Installs new life safety and security components to integrate with existing systems. Provides cabling and electrical power in temporary applications for university functions. Maintenance - 15

Required Qualifications Educational Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Effectively communicate through email, orally, and in writing. Read written materials, work instructions, safety procedures and material data safety sheets. A person working in this classification will need to be able to grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy objects (50-75lb) objects daily. A person working in this classification will need to be able to climb (on an average of 50+feet), and work from ladders, scaffolding and staging daily. Ability to operate a vehicle.
KNOWLEDGE
Familiarity with NEC, State, and Local Codes. Proficient in common wiring methods for AC/DC circuitry, communications, networking, and CCTV. Read and comprehend technical manuals and blueprints. SKILLS
Use of tools and equipment in the repair and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment. Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC and refrigeration systems. Use power tools including but not limited to circular and reciprocating saws, sanders, and grinders, drills, pipe thread machine, sewer machine, welder, acetylene torch, cut-off saw, and various hand tools and wrenches, electrical testing devices, and voltage meters.
