JOB DESCRIPTION

The Electrician 2 inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains electrical/electronic systems, circuits and equipment. The position relies on guidelines and some experience and judgment to complete job and works under general supervision. May lead and direct the work of others.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Electrical Systems Maintenance & Repair – Working under the general supervision of the Supervisor, maintain and repair the full spectrum of electrical systems existent within the hospital to ensure an environment that is hazard free for patients, visitors, and staff and conductive to patient care.
Complete assigned work orders and PM orders to maintain the reliability and integrity of the electrical infrastructure in the hospital.
Inform Supervisor if additional resources are required to complete the customer’s request.
Inform the charge person of the unit requesting the service of the status of their request. If the service cannot be completed immediately follow-up to ensure the service is completed to the satisfaction of the customer.
Control and complete assigned work orders/PM orders upon completion of the requested work and return to the Supervisor at the end of each work day.
Informs the Supervisor of needs for supplies and parts necessary to maintain shop responsibilities.
Respond to emergency calls to correct electrical failures during evening, night, weekend and holiday periods.
Environment of Care – Working under the general supervision of the Shop Supervisor, inspect, maintain, and repair Environment of Care and Life Safety Code standards.
Maintain a knowledge of Environment of Care and Life Safety Code standards.
Control and complete issued paperwork for EOC corrections. Submit to the Project Manager to provide evidence of compliance for county and JCAHO inquiries.
Renovation and Construction – Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, accomplish small renovation and construction projects in compliance with county and building codes.
Evaluate and determine the resources necessary to accomplish electrical construction requirements for assigned renovation projects.
Develop a materials take-off listing from plans and blue prints
Coordinate work with other trades and the Project Manager
Install and/or alter electrical systems to allow completion of the project.
Keep project sight clean and orderly to eliminate any hazards.
Electrical Equipment/Machinery – Working under the general supervision of the Supervisor, inspect, maintain, and repair a variety of electrical equipment, appliances, and machinery found in the hospital.
Inspect, maintain, and repair food service equipment to ensure that the equipment is free of hazards and optimally available to the customer.
Inspect, maintain, and repair a variety of electrical appliances, such as microwave ovens, toasters, etc.
Inspect, maintain, and repair appropriate equipment supporting patient care that is not under the auspices of Biomedical Engineering.
Appearance, Health, and Safety Behavior – Adhere to departmental and governmental safety standards and departmental and organizational personal appearance policies.
Wear appropriate safety equipment and comply with departmental and OSHA safety standards at all times.
Keep personal work spaces and equipment in a safe and orderly condition.
Follow hospital infection control/universal precautions at all times.
Maintain a clean, neat, hygienic, well-groomed, and professional personal appearance in a accordance with departmental and hospital policies at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

Four years in the electrical trade.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Technical training equivalent to four years apprenticeship in the electrical trade.
Must have thorough knowledge of all aspects of the National Electrical Code. Must be able to work from shop drawings and blueprints. Must possess excellent customer relations abilities. Computer skills preferred. Knowledge of digital controls desired.
