The Ajax packaging facility, w these positions are based, is one of the largest employers in Ajax and Durham Region. We provide innovative packaging solutions to the beverage market and serve name brand customers such as Coca Cola, Pepsi, Labatt and Molson to name a few.

The Job Opportunity:

The Smurfit Westrock Ajax facility is looking for Electricians to work in our Maintenance department. This position is responsible to install, maintain and repair all electrical apparatus within the plant.

Install New Electrical Systems:

Follow s designed by engineers for large jobs on equipment
Make material lists, decide best format for installation and carry out installation according to Canadian Electrical Code for smaller jobs
Install electronic and electronic wiring, controller, and rewire presses/gluers as required

Plant/Machinery Preventative Maintenance:

Ensure electrical equipment within the plant is regularly serviced and operating well
Operate necessary equipment/tools to perform the repairs
Read electrical and mechanical blue s to determine how problem is to be approached
Keep a log of repairs made to each of the presses
Improvises acceptable electrical and electronic fixes to get equipment running properly

Trouble Shooting:

Respond to machine operators request for a work order by running the machine to determine electrical faults
Read and understand blue s, specifications, and manufacturers manuals
What you need to succeed:
Successfulpletion of a post secondary education in Electrical program or equivalent
Electrician license/certification in good standing
Minimum 3 years experience working in a manufacturing environment Full understanding of CSA and Code electrical standards andpliance
Experience working with lathe, welder, milling machine, drill presses and cutting tools considered an asset.
Can do attitude and willingness to learn and grow with the Company
Ability to adapt to changes in priorities, work independently and with a team
Read and understand blue s, specifications, and manufacturers manuals
Ability to stand and walk 100% of shift on a concrete floor and ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to maintain good attendance.

Shift Schedule:

Must be able to work all 12 hour rotating shifts:

Days:

7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Nights:

7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
