Description
The Maine Trust for Local News is looking for an experienced Plant Maintenance person for the Portland Press Herald location in South Portland. The facility has professional office space, two printing presses, and a distribution warehouse.
This position performs electrical and mechanical equipment, building system and property maintenance repair and service for all Maine Trust for Local News properties.
Responsibilities Include:
Electrical and mechanical diagnosis and troubleshooting in and around the plant on all plant equipment, including but not limited to HVAC, fire system, alarm system, heating system, water, sewer, high pressure air and vacuum system.
Responding to building alarms and emergencies as necessary.
Working with vendors in both a supporting role and information sharing. Maintains good working relationship with all external vendors.
Groundskeeping including mowing, plowing, shoveling and salting walkways.
Providing janitorial back-up when needed
Requirements/Technical skills including:
Electrical Skills and Proficiency
Mechanical Skill
Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics and compressed air
Complete knowledge of all plant systems
OSHA Regulations
Team player and collaborator
Good organizational and time management skills
Valid driver’s license
Strong technical troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Experience:
Experienced mechanical machinery service and operation. Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.
Physical Demands:
This is a physically demanding job requiring lengthy time standing, bending, stretching, lifting pushing and climbing. Should be able to occasionally lift up to 100 lbs in a team lift situation, and 25-50lbs. regularly. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions including cold and snow.
