This position is being filled using Direct-Hire Authority (5 CFR 337.201) for this occupion. Videos Duties Troubleshooting and repair of all medium voltage primary underground electrical distribution cable and reled equipment, which consists of underground cable in manhole duct systems, main high voltage switching stions (13,500 volts), with associed circuit breakers, lightning arrestors, potheads, terminors, gauges, instantaneous and overload trips, current transformers, voltage transformers, bteries and btery chargers, and oil and air circuit breakers. Incumbent troubleshoots cable systems to loce opens, shorts, grounds, mechanical damage, and electrolysis damage Incumbent repairs cable by making cable splices in accordance with the various manufacturers’ recommendions and VA prescribed standards Incumbent performs maintenance and repairs to a gre variety of secondary electrical equipment; such as secondary distribution circuits used to supply a wide range of voltages, currents, lighting and power distribution panels, switchgear, circuit breakers, fluorescent, incandescent, mercury vapor, metal halide, and sodium vapor lighting systems, laundry machinery, dietetic equipment, electrical beds, fire alarm systems, electric motors, photovoltaic systems, inverters, and controllers. Incumbent troubleshoots and secures fire alarms, nurse calls, and panic alarm systems throughout the facility Incumbent installs telephone cable, computer cable, television cable system th includes television monitors, complete transformers and load centers, and makes additions to existing circuits throughout the campus. Bends and installs conduit and fittings (aluminum and steel, rigid and thin wall) Maintains and repairs stion street lighting systems and associed controllers, transformers, relays, and photo cells. Incumbent troubleshoots, performs preventive maintenance, and operes approximely seventeen (17) diesel-driven emergency generors ranging in size from 35 kW to 2250 kW, including four 2250-kW co-generion sets the Biloxi campus Incumbent responds to emergency call backs on weekends, holidays, and after regular duty hours to repair street lights, pumps, transformers, primary and secondary distribution cables, lightening arrestors, circuit breakers, automic doors, medical air and vacuum systems, boiler controls, sellite system and any other electrical service deemed critical for pient/Veteran care or comfort

Physical Requirements :
The WG-10 grade level described the duties this level as the same WG-08 grade level. Incumbent must work from ladders, scaffolding, plforms and mechanical lifts, working in extremely hot, cold, and damp areas; works outside in inclement weher. Incumbent is always subject to electrical shock or burns during electrical repairs. Other hazards include falling from heights, injuries from power equipment, and damage to skin from cleaning fluids. Incumbent could be exposed to body fluids, TB, or other biological or medical hazards while working in the lab, surgical areas, pient areas, etc. Incumbent aware of all job specific health hazards and will wear the approprie/required personal protective equipment (PPE).
