This position is being filled using Direct-Hire Authority (5 CFR 337.201) for this occupion. Duties Plans the work and establishes deadlines, priorities and schedules as necessary to accomplish the mission of performing recurring and non-recurring maintenance and repair, and preventive maintenance on all electrical and electronic equipment. Plans and estimes labor and merial costs on remodeling or new construction. Reschedules or establishes new priorities to avoid delays due to procurement of merials or equipment and redirect individual workers to accomplish mission. Monitors equipment tests on new projects to ensure proper installion and to ensure equipment functions within the established parameters. Advises Maintenance & Repair Foreman of capabilities of assigned work force, requirements for merials, equipment, work space, and any other assistance th may be required. Responsible for planning, scheduling, and supervising maintenance and repair, construction, renovion of existing structures which has a major impact on pient services and preventive maintenance on electrical and electronic equipment, buildings and utility systems which includes but is not limited to electrical, fire alarms, nurse call systems, elevors, generors, automic doors, laundry, and some medical equipment. Makes long and short range plans for operion and repair of all equipment and work areas assigned such as kitchen, laundry, engineering shops, medical and grounds equipment, vehicles, lift stions, pumps, motors, compressors, and heavy equipment, units and systems such as building fire alarm systems and nurse calls, which are the responsibility of the Electric Shop. Ensures work supplies, tools, plans, equipment and any other merials necessary for the sisfactory completion of assignments are present, ordering such supplies as necessary. Provides guidance and instructions, answers questions, and checks work progress during and upon completion. Furnishes guidance on sequence of operion and technical guidance on repairs and interprets technical orders and specificions for subordines. Advises supervisor of problems in an effort to correct bottlenecks due to merial shortages, lack of equipment, or personnel shortages. Possesses knowledge and practical skills in the assembly, disassembly, repair and/or maintenance and operion of all equipment. Provides technical guidance and monitoring through the use of blueprints, sketches, diagrams, pamphlets, technical orders, bulletins, and other oral and written directives. Responsible for inventory and maintaining of all non-expendable equipment and tools listed on the Equipment Inventory Listing (EIL) for the electric shop. Works from ladders, scaffolding, plforms and mechanical lifts. Works both inside and outside under extreme temperures, in cramped spaces, on roofs, under buildings and in tics, drilling through masonry walls and concrete floors Works in manholes exposed to dangerous gases; the possibility of broken bones, electrical shock, burns and bruises. Responsible for proactive behaviors in presenting, identifying, and reporting actual and potentially unsafe pient care situions.
