  • General Description The Facilities Instructor will also be responsible for providing a wide range of maintenance services.

The instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and training to an apprentice in the field of facilities maintenance and building systems. This role involves developing curriculum, teaching a wide range of preventative maintenance skills, and preparing the Facilities Apprentice for a Facilities Tech I position within the agency with on-the-job training. Effectively supports ongoing and collaborative communication amongst all program staff and is responsible for ensuring a trauma informed care environment. Special Requirements The facilities Instructor will be responsible for providing and using own hand tools including:

  • Utility Knife Upon one year of employment, a stipend for the purchase of new tools will be provided. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Trains apprentices to be responsible for all aspects of preventive maintenance to ensure safe and secure Agency facilities, such as: o Making appropriate repairs as directed by Supervisor.

o Monitoring and reporting any property damage to Agency facilities to Supervisor. o Maintaining cleanliness and repair of buildings to include windows, flooring, and appliances. o Janitorial duties may include but are not limited to cleaning/waxing floors, filling paper supplies, cleaning walls, washing windows, etc. o Set up and tear down for Agency meetings, perform office moves, and painting.

  • Evaluates student progress through assignments, tests, and hands-on performance.
  • Maintains accurate records of student attendance, performance, and certifications.
  • Mentors apprentice and provide guidance on career development and industry expectations.
  • Provides tracking sheets to the supervisor at the end of each week.
  • Instructs apprentices in technical skills related to electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and general building repair.
  • Creates lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials aligned with learning objectives.
  • Provides practical training in the use of tools, equipment, and diagnostic techniques.
  • Performs on-call procedures assigned by supervisor.
  • Awareness of and active support of the Agency’s Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. Including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency’s Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications

Education:

Associate degree or technical certification in a related field preferred. Skilled in advanced trade including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, or HVAC.

Experience:
  • Significant hands-on experience in facilities maintenance or related trade.
  • Prior teaching or training experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry codes, safety standards, and maintenance best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Familiarity with modern teaching tools and technology.
