Electrician-Port Jervis, New York Roles and Responsibilities:

Electricians troubleshoot and perform specialized maintenance onequipment including insulation, heating, ventilation, airconditioning, communication, lighting, door, propulsion, andautomatic train control and air brake systems. Install, service andrepair electrical panels, wiring, lighting, and fixtures as well asspecialized electrical equipment and machinery. Replace defectiveair filters, solid-state control boards, Freon, relays and pressureswitches in HVAC system. Locate defective motor components usingproper test equipment (meters). Perform safety control tests ondoors, Cab Signal System, and braking systems. Replace defectivepressure switches and micros switches in air brake system. Maintainand repair any electrical components on gear pullers, presses, andcrane motors. Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; usinghoists, cranes, and hand and power tools. Maintain continuity amongwork teams by documenting and communicating actions,irregularities, and continuing needs. Comply with all safetypolicies, practices, and procedures following routine and allstandards of performance. Maintain a safe working environment.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

Pass NJ Transit’sElectrician Aptitude Test Demonstrate knowledge of OHMS laws,instrumentation, digital circuits, communication, computersDemonstrate experience with control valves, transmitters, and PLCUnderstand high voltage systems, grounding systems, fuses, andtransformer maintenance Troubleshoot and repair basic electricaltools such as multi-meter, voltage tester, etc. Read electricalcircuit diagrams and electrical blueprints Successfully pass thepre-screening process including drug test, physical, and criminal,employer, and driving background checks.

High School Diploma or GEDKnowledge and Skills:

Programming, PLCs, VFDs, industrial Ethernet,digital and 4-20ma controls along with a broad knowledge ofindustrial electrical systems and power distribution Installation,repair, and troubleshooting of commercial or industrial electricalwiring The military performing heavy-duty repair experience(airplanes, ships, steel mills, etc . ) Trade school, electrical,diesel-mechanical maintenance, and/or technical experience

PhysicalRequirements:

Lift up to 70 pounds occasionally Stoop, bend, crawl,balance, climb, kneel Be exposed to equipment that intensifies theheat factor on an occasional basis Wear protective equipment suchas hardhat, safety glasses, and safety-toe boots

Rate of pay:

The pay rates are tiered and are non-negotiable based on years andtypes of experience. Tiers start at $29.10 (80% of the full rate).The 100
