THE
POSITION

The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor. As an instructor, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of incarcerated individuals through education and training. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor with the Department of Corrections, your primary role will involve teaching inmates the essential practices, methods, and procedures of the electrical trade at a journeyman level. This will be achieved through a combination of demonstrations, explanations, and close supervision during both training sessions and work assignments. You will provide instruction using both textbooks and hands-on training, covering the repair and new construction of low and high voltage circuitry, which encompasses various components such as lighting, power outlets, conduit, underground circuits, switch boxes, breaker panels, switchgear, transformers, motors, electrical appliances, and generators. Additionally, you will be tasked with planning and assigning work to inmates, offering assistance at all training levels through effective communication and practical demonstrations, while also reviewing and inspecting their work to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hour work week
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday•Friday
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $50,846 (before taxes). This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Five years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment used in buildings; or
Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the electrical trade; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the electrical trade.
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
