JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the Electrician (Process Control Technician) installs, troubleshoots, and maintains plant electrical, process control, instrumentation, and electronic equipment, including PLCs and their ancillary and peripheral devices in accordance with NEC regulations and all other electronic regulations and codes. Maintains EPA and BIF repair logs and works independently without supervision.
REPORTS TO
Works under the general direction of the shift supervisor and/or electrical supervisor. May also follow directions from other supervisors such as the repair foreman, chief chemist, or laboratory supervisor.
EQUIPMENT USED
Including, but not limited to:
Electrical and electronic hand and power tools
Multimeters, oscilloscopes, voltmeters, and other testing instruments
PLCs and related devices
Calibration and alignment tools
Soldering equipment
Computers and software for testing and networking functions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be physically capable of strenuous physical assignments.
Ability to climb steps, ladders, and traverse walkways (including catwalks).
No fear of heights or confined spaces.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and reach at least six feet.
Adequate vision and hearing to allow satisfactory job performance.
Ability to distinguish between different colors for trends, alarms, etc.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read and understand technical documents, schematics, blueprints, and manuals.

JOB DUTIES
Install, troubleshoot, and maintain plant electrical, process control, instrumentation, and electronic equipment, including PLCs.
Troubleshoot work-related problems by testing circuitry, analyzing symptoms, and interpreting schematics and technical manuals.
Select, install, calibrate, and check sensing, telemetering, and recording instrumentation and circuitry.
Adjust and calibrate measuring and indicating instruments.
Analyze and convert test data to usable form, prepare graphs and reports.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on test apparatus and peripheral equipment.
Install electrical/electronic assemblies and hardware using hand tools and soldering equipment.
Maintain records related to compliance with hazardous waste fuels regulations.
Suggest improvements in work methods and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma preferred.
Two-year technical degree in a related field is desired.
Must complete on-the-job training provided by the designated department supervisor or a qualified employee.
NCCER Certification.
Must be capable of satisfactorily completing MSHA and RCRA training requirements.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Required to work inside or outside during inclement weather, daylight, darkness, weekends, holidays, and/or rotational shifts.
May be required to work overtime.
Subject to shift and/or job assignment changes according to the union contract.
Required to work in an industrial environment with hazards such as very hot and/or very cold conditions, heights, and confined spaces.
Required to wear company policy-approved safety equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear plugs, safety shoes/boots, harnesses/belts, gloves, protective suits, dust masks, and/or respirators.
