Job Description

Electrical Technician Suominen 500 Chestnut St E, Bethune, SC 29009 We currently have the following Electrical Technician position open at Suominen, Bethune. Summary Description of Position Works with operations to ensure equipment is working at optimal performance levels. In a team environment, solves issues and problems, installs, troubleshoots and repairs electrical and electronic equipment and distribution systems using electrical and mechanical maintenance skills, tools and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct electrical problems in the power distribution, electrical equipment and lighting systems. Troubleshoot, install, maintain, remove, repair, calibrate and test electrical, electronic and pneumatic instruments and equipment used in production, laboratory, inside or outside, shop or field. Perform installation, removal and repair of electrical equipment such as motors, starters, controllers, and electronic control and communication equipment. Perform basic mechanical work (lubricate, clean, align, repair and replace rolls, filters, motors, gearboxes and pumps and the like). Identify and secure resources needed to perform repair jobs (parts, tools personnel, etc.). Follow HAZMAT and MSDS guidelines in the handling of hazardous materials. Transport equipment, machinery, and parts using forklifts, pallet jacks, etc. Knowledge of NFPA 70 and 70E (Safety) Must be able to replace fuses up to 12,470 volts. Contact vendors for technical support and information. Work on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts and in confined spaces. Possess familiarity with and work to meet current electrical codes and company policies and practices. Select proper wire and conduit sizes, breakers, switches, and fuses. Read electrical circuit drawings, and related mechanical and electrical blueprints. Perform mathematics to determine proper components and installation requirements. Perform work of lower skill classifications (no duty or task is too small in the team environment). Function equally well as team member or team leader in self-directed teams of mechanics, electricians, and technical operators. Not just a short-term fixer or part swapper. Lead and/or participate in sPlus continuous improvement teams. Assess problems with production machinery/equipment and identify root cause(s). Perform inspections on machinery and equipment and complete work orders on noted discrepancies. Perform housekeeping in work area to promote a safe working environment. Must be able to safely operate all equipment. Must be willing to work in inclement conditions; i.e., rain, cold, hot, etc. Required to be on your feet for extended periods of time; i.e., climbing stairs or traveling about the facility. Lock out/tag out machinery/equipment and verify ZES to ensure safety and prevent accidents and injuries. Review PM sheets to identify PM priorities and schedules. Communicate frequently with technical operators to avoid machinery, electrical or equipment issues and problems. This list is not all-inclusive and may be modified at Management’s discretion

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Certification and five years of maintenance experience and/or an Associates degree in a related field. Experience in a industrial manufacturing operation is preferred. Must have experience working on electrical systems up to 480 volts. Experience to 12,470 volt panels preferred. Must have experience, including programming, PLC control systems; PLC programming skills a plus (Allen-Bradley preferred). Control Network and operator interface experience preferred, IFIX experience a plus. Strong computer skills, MP2 (CMMS) and Excel. Carding, lamination, web handling, and nonwovens experience a plus. Attention to details required; ability to strictly follow established work procedures and practices; i.e., ZES, IES, ISO, PM, etc. Must work as team member and team leader in self-directed teams with little supervision. Must be tolerant of working flexible hours. Manually lift up to 50 pounds intermittently. Heavier parts are lifted using other methods. Must be able to obtain fork truck and aerial lift license.
