What part will you play as an Assistant Electrician?
GAF Energy is seeking an Assistant Electrician who will play an important role in our mission to harvest energy from rooftops and deliver ultimate customer satisfaction.
This exciting role will report to the Electrical Services Manager, and work within a cross-functional team to ensure the overall success of electrical services. The ideal candidate must have hands-on electrical experience with residential solar, electric, EV, or stationary storage and thrive working in a fast-paced environment. With outstanding technical acumen, attention to detail, and strong communication skills you can help us protect what matters most.
This person will be responsible for providing in-field electrical services working in a team environment on an electrical services crew.
What will you be doing?
Installing electrical systems by connecting residential solar arrays to the grid, with oversight from a Lead/Certified Electrician.
Ensuring all work installed is of exceptional workmanship and meets all applicable local and national compliance codes or requirements.
Troubleshooting, resolving, and upgrading systems to ensure long-term system reliability and availability.
Maintaining excellent working relationships with partners, inspectors, and homeowners to meet and exceed system requirements and scheduled timelines.
Keeping accurate records of material consumption and proper maintenance of PPE and vehicles.
With proper licensure and on-the-job experience, potential to move into a Lead/Certified Electrician role in a high-growth start-up environment.
What do we require from you?
1-3 years hands-on electrical experience related to residential solar, electric, EV, or stationary storage systems preferred.
Ability to read, interpret, verify calculations, and correct electrical plans.
Thorough working knowledge and application of NEC and workplace safety practices.
Highly organized, accountable, and a thorough and independent contributor.
Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers both internal and external.
This includes excellent communication skills:
written, verbal, and email.
Passion for craftsmanship and general comfort working with and around general tradesmen.
Commitment to exceptional high electrical standards.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., as well as flexibility to move comfortably on a roof; additional physical requirements include climbing up and down ladders, crawling through tight spaces, and sustained ability to work outside in a seasonal environment.
Travel as needed, up to 50% of the time.
Must possess a valid driver’s license preferably with a demonstrated record of safe driving.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to wear safety equipment (weighing up to 15 lbs) and perform work at heights.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to climb ladders and/or stairs.
Specific vision abilities including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus is required.
Must be able to walk, stand, and maintain balance on sloped surfaces such as roofs.
Frequent sitting, walking, standing, and occasional climbing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing is required.
Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of tools and equipment is required.
Communicating verbally in person and through automated devices such as the telephone.
