Job Description
The Facilities Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and operations of all campus facilities which include buildings, grounds, and utility systems. Under direct supervision, the Construction Assistant will assist with any duties related to Carpentry or Electrical related projects.
The Facilities Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and operations of all campus facilities which include buildings, grounds, and utility systems. Under direct supervision, the Construction Assistant will assist with any duties related to Carpentry or Electrical related projects.
Responsibilities
Assist with commercial construction tasks, including repair, renovation, alteration, forming, framing, and finishing of campus buildings and facilities.
Assist with general electrical work, including working on electrical systems, disassembling, cleaning, repairing, and reassembling electrical appliances and equipment.
Use tools and operate woodworking machines to complete various construction-related tasks.
Work primarily with carpenters or electricians, performing duties such as bending conduit, hanging sheetrock or plywood, constructing walls, moving materials, demolition, and clean-up.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED (vocational or technical training preferred)
This is any entry level position. No experience necessary.
Knowledge of safe working practices; ability to follow instructions
Ability to learn basic and specialized tools, should have some knowledge of proper hand tool use
Ability to perform heavy lifting and do physical labor; ability to lift 40 pounds with no assistance and be able to perform moderately strenuous work activities
Ability to lift, climb and work at varying heights
Should have some knowledge of proper ladder use
Experience:
