Chief Estimator Job Description This individual will be responsible for overseeing the company’s estimating team and efforts, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of cost estimates for various construction projects. Responsibilities Oversee and manage the estimating department for a general contractor. Lead the preparation of cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, and overhead. Review and analyze project plans and specifications to ensure accurate estimates. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors for bid submissions. Develop and implement estimating procedures, guidelines, and best practices. Review subcontractor proposals and negotiate pricing and scope of work. Ensure timely and accurate submission of bids to clients. Maintain and update cost databases, historical data, and material pricing. Assist in the development of project budgets and financial forecasting. Essential Skills At least 10 years of experience in construction estimating. Experience managing and leading a team of estimators. Proficiency in construction estimating software, spreadsheets, and other relevant tools. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize accordingly. Strong problem-solving skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in hospitality renovation, corporate interiors, or other fast-paced projects. Experience with Procore and Vista software. Supervisory skills. Work Environment This position is based in an office setting, requiring in-office presence five days per week.
