Connecticut Carpentry Corporation is a 2nd generation family-owned and operated company. We are a woman owned, small business, based out of Rocky Hill, Connecticut. We have been in business for over 50 years as a Commercial General Contractor & Specialty Trade Contractor. Specializing in Architectural Millwork, Heavy Timber Construction, Commercial Door Installation & Specialty Trades management. Our dynamic construction team works on large-scale public and private jobs. Some of our typical clients include Colleges & Universities, Municipalities, Healthcare Agencies, K-12 Schools, Real Estate Agencies, as well as Commercial Retail Chains, & Private Firms. We are seeking a Full-Time Estimator in our Rocky Hill office.
Position Description:
Connecticut Carpentry’s ideal candidate would be a motivated individual who is eager to help us grow as a team and as a company. The Estimator will work directly under our one of our Vice Presidents. The individual in this position is responsible for helping coordinate all aspects of our bids. The Estimator must be prepared to accomplish all work in a timely and professional manner in accordance with the contract documents. Because the bulk of our work involves Public Projects, the ideal candidate will have excellent time management skills, as these projects have strict due dates and deadlines. Some examples of day-to-day tasks include, but are not limited to: o Soliciting Subcontractor proposals. o Performing Quantity takeoffs. o Complete Bond & Insurance Request Forms. o Complete & Compile Bid Forms for Submission. o Hand Delivers Bids when required. o Reviews and writes contracts, and trade specific scopes of work. o Conducts project site visits & attends pre-bid meetings. o Assists with the project transition of startups with our project management staff. o Collaborates and assists with our other team members.
Requirements:
Knowledge and Skills o 2-3 years of commercial building and estimating experience. o A degree in Construction Management or a related field is desired. o Knowledge of the construction administration. o Knowledge of contract administration is preferred. o Ability to read plans and specifications. o Knowledge of CSI Specification. o Ability to perform quantity takeoffs. o The ideal candidate would be a motivated, sociable, and dedicated individual. Who collaborates well in a team setting. o Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to effectively interact at all levels, within and external to the organization. o Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve issues as they arise. o Exceptional prioritization, organizational, and multi-tasking skills with demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team to produce highest quality results. o Strong focus on detail and skilled in handling diverse tasks with high degree of accuracy and timeliness. o Excellent written, mathematical, and grammatical skills, along with a high proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) o Other programs utilized include, but are not limited to Bluebeam, MS Project, PM Web, and Procore, and Quantum Project Management. Knowledge of these programs is a plus. This position is intended to be full time, in person, Monday – Friday. Compensation will be based on relevant experience.
