Estimator – Civil 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars Jacksonville, FL 32220 Ferreira Construction Co., Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Estimator with civil experience to work in the Southern Division office located out of the Jacksonville, FL area. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the estimating/pre-construction phase of multiple heavy civil projects.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a positive image of the company with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and team members. Estimate projects in accordance with Ferreira Construction’s Policies and Procedures. Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents. Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents. Analyze regional labor rates and per diems to be used in the estimate. Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications. Review and confirms quotations from vendors and subcontractors provided by their Estimating team. Presents to leadership their own estimates and provides supervisory support for estimates prepared by their team. Set up and maintain project cost accounting. Develop project schedules. Familiar with owner contract requirements and delivery methods.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant degree. Must have relevant (industrial civil estimating experience but preferred to have water/wastewater construction experience) Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 5-10 years of experience estimating projects in the construction industry. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and office programs. Ability to travel to project sites to understand construction sequence, means and methods, site conditions and perform time-studies.
