Position Summary:
The Cost Engineer is responsible maintaining atrue and accurate cost structure and coordinating reportingelements key to developing accurate cost reports. This is aninterface between project management, cost management andaccounting.
Responsibilities:
Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies andprocedures including reporting all accidents, incidents andnear-misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value -Safety first, in everything we do. Review project features with Estimating department and ensurethat work quantities are being entered correctly on a dailybasis. Verify proper coding for phases, hours, and slips. Close out the completed project phases and verify progressentries. Conduct monthly cost review meeting with project team. Assign and initiate new cost codes for change orders, trackingitems and back charges as required. Verify pencil sheets / pay requisitions. Take the lead in developing quarterly cost to completereports. Review and process change orders for TMC and subcontractors /vendors. Review and process cost adjustments. Identify items that are exceeding the budget and communicate toProject Manager. Assist project management team with quarterly reports forcontract status, contract profit, unit cost report, costprojections, revenue projects, change order status and change ordercosts.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering orrelated field and / or minimum of 5 years of heavy civilconstruction experience Experience working with project management and a thoroughknowledge of heavy construction logistics, resource planning,construction sequencing and material management preferred. Familiar with a variety of the field construction conceptspractices, and procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of Viewpoint Accounting and Job CostingSystem is desirable.
