Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team, specializing in insulation, gutters, and specialty construction services.
Key responsibilities: Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate estimates for insulation, gutter systems, and specialty scopes.
Perform material take-offs, labor estimates, and equipment costs using estimating software or manual calculations.
Solicit and review pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
Collaborate with project managers, sales, and field teams to develop competitive bids and proposals.
Prepare and submit RFIs (Requests for Information) as needed to clarify the scope.
Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions and constraints.
Maintain organized documentation and records of all estimates, quotes, and project files.
Monitor job cost performance and assist in change order pricing as required.
Stay current with industry trends, material pricing, and code requirements related to insulation, gutters, and specialty work.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in insulation, gutter, or specialty trades.
Strong knowledge of construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Quick Bid) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
High attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred, but not required.
Physical Demands:
The position requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, with occasional climbing of ladders and access to rooftops or confined spaces during site visits. The role may involve lifting objects up to 25 pounds and requires sufficient manual dexterity to operate computers, calculators, and other office equipment. Visual acuity is necessary for reading blueprints, plans, and conducting detailed inspections.
