Job Description Mid State Metals LLC is searching for an Estimating Manager to review construction bid documents, blueprints and specifications in order to prepare detailed estimates and take-offs for miscellaneous metals projects (steel stairs, railings, ladders, etc.). Manage all aspects of estimating department. Calculate labor, material and equipment costs to develop an estimate and bid proposal. Prepare estimate prices on change orders for ongoing projects. Obtain quotes from suppliers, subcontractors and specified manufacturers to complete a materials and labor take-off. Prepare required bid forms and documents. Complete work in a timely manner to meet bid schedules. Respond to clients in a timely manner. Qualifications College degree preferred with a degree in Engineering, Detailing or 3D Modeling. Previous work experience in estimating, project management or drafting may substitute. Minimum of 5 years experience estimating steel projects. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols and construction plans. Thorough understanding of steel fabrication and erection methods. Previous experience using design/detailing software is preferred. Ability to learn a proprietary estimating software. Ability to work on multiple projects at a time and manage time efficiently.
