Our client is a leading civil construction firm specializing in infrastructure, transportation, and public works projects. They are dedicated to delivering quality work on schedule and within budget while fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. They’re currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to support their growing estimating team.
Job Summary
The Estimator will assist in preparing accurate and organized cost estimates for civil construction projects under the guidance of senior estimators and project managers. This role offers an opportunity to develop technical skills in preconstruction and estimating while contributing to project planning and the development of company-wide estimating practices.
Key Responsibilities
Support the preparation of preliminary and detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects
Review project plans, specifications, and documentation to understand project scope
Perform quantity takeoffs for sitework, utilities, grading, and other civil scopes
Assist in soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotes
Help develop bid packages and ensure proposal compliance with client requirements
Maintain and update cost history data and assist in database creation
Coordinate with senior estimators and project managers to ensure estimate accuracy
Participate in virtual team meetings, status updates, and occasional site visits
Assist with material submittals and procurement as needed
Contribute to the documentation of preconstruction procedures and best practices
Participate in pre-bid walks and pre-construction meetings.
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or currently pursuing)
0-2 years of experience in estimating; internships and academic projects welcome
Familiarity with reading civil and architectural plans
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or HCSS is a plus
Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
Eagerness to learn and take initiative in a collaborative team setting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
