SRB is a leading contractor in the bridge rehabilitation and marine construction industries. We work nationwide and are actively expanding into other markets. We have been in operation for 12 years and have successfully completed hundreds of complex projects across the Country.
Position Overview:
The Chief Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of projects. You will oversee the estimating team, collaborate with project managers and clients, and ensure that all bids align with company standards and profitability goals. The initial task of the Chief Estimator will be to develop estimates so Southern Road & Bridge can bid a minimum of 300 projects annually. This position manage two estimators and one estimating assistant.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for upcoming projects. Lead, mentor, and coordinate with the estimating team. Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other project documentation. Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to gather pricing and scope information. Review and evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals. Prepare and present bid proposals to management. Maintain and grow list of qualified subcontractors and vendors. Monitor and update estimating procedures and best practices. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field. Proven experience as an estimator in bridge, marine or wastewater. Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and costs. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Sage, HeavyBid, or similar). Ability to lead and motivate a team. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
