Job Description

Dock Designer and Estimator AimHigHR, LLC Gulfport, FL 33707 • Hybrid work Job Summary Gulf and Bay Marine is seeking a detail-oriented and creative Part-Time Dock Designer and Estimator to join our team. This role involves designing custom residential and commercial docks, preparing accurate cost estimates, and collaborating with clients and internal teams to ensure project success. The ideal candidate will have experience in marine construction design, proficiency in Adobe Illustrator software, and strong analytical skills.

Essential Functions Design Development:

Create detailed dock designs using Adobe Illustrator software, ensuring compliance with local regulations and client specifications.

Cost Estimation:

Prepare comprehensive cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and permits, for proposed dock projects.

Client Collaboration:

Engage with clients to understand their needs, present design concepts, and adjust plans based on feedback.

Site Evaluation:

Conduct site visits to assess environmental conditions, measurements, and other factors influencing design and cost.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure all designs and plans adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, including obtaining necessary permits.

Vendor Coordination:

Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and availability of materials and services.

Project Documentation:

Maintain organized records of designs, estimates, client communications, and project timelines. •

Required Skills and Qualifications Education:

Associate’s degree in Drafting, Marine Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years in dock or marine construction design and estimation.

Technical Proficiency:

Skilled in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and estimation tools.

Knowledge:

Familiarity with marine construction materials, methods, and local building codes.

Analytical Skills:

Strong mathematical and analytical abilities for accurate cost estimation.

Communication:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration. Attention to

Detail:

High level of accuracy in design and cost estimation, and working as part of a team.

Problem-Solving:

Ability to identify and resolve design and estimation challenges effectively. Additional Requirements Strong critical thinking skills to develop innovative solutions that meet client goals while complying with permitting guidelines. Ability to work independently as well as with a group in order to prioritize and complete tasks. Ability to conduct thorough research on permitting guidelines, environmental regulations, and best practices in dock design. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion while adhering to client specifications.

Job Types:
