Job Summary:
Estimators are responsible for preparing timely and accurate quotes for customers based on service needs and repair/maintenance plans. Working closely with the sales team, vendors, and technical personnel, Estimators ensure scopes of work are complete and aligned with customer requirements and industry standards, while meeting targeting margin levels.
Essential Job Functions:
Respond to quote requests from the sales team and field technicians in a timely and accurate manner. Review equipment photos, O&M manuals, and account records to identify required parts/equipment. Develop precise estimates that align with targeted margin levels. Collaborate with sales teams, vendors, and manufacturers throughout the bidding process. Prepare a complete and well-documented scope of work during the bid phase. Analyze labor and travel rates to ensure job cost accuracy. Work with customers, sales teams, and technical support teams to define a comprehensive scope of work in compliance with NFPA 99 code and other service requirements. Evaluate subcontractor proposals to ensure compliance with required scopes of work. Support the outside sales team by preparing quotes and reviewing account history as needed. Serve as the point of contact for customer inquiries related to quotes and orders. Read and interpret plumbing/medical gas blueprints and written specifications. Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time position Ability to sit, stand, work at a computer and type for prolonged periods. Ability to lift to 15 pounds. The typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm
Travel:
Some local travel may be required.
Additional Responsibilities:
Work under close supervision and follow established processes. Focus on simpler or lower complexity quote requests. Seek guidance and approvals from senior team members or supervisor. Participate in training to build technical and product knowledge.
Experience & Qualifications:
1-3 years of estimating experience, preferably within medical gas, construction, mechanical, or plumbing industries, or an equivalent combination of technical knowledge and transferable experience. Basic knowledge of quoting and estimating processes. Basic knowledge of mechanical or plumbing systems desired. Strong mathematical aptitude. Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints and specifications. General understanding of NFPA 99 code preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills. Self-motivated with a willingness to learn. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
