Job Summary:
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for a variety of commercial ground-up construction projects. This role involves detailed quantity take-offs, subcontractor and supplier pricing coordination, scope development, and proposal preparation. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a solid understanding of construction means and methods.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze project drawings, specifications, and related documents to prepare detailed cost estimates Perform quantity take-offs and develop pricing for labor, materials, and equipment Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals Identify project risks and opportunities in the preconstruction phase Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and owners during the bidding and budgeting process Prepare and present comprehensive bid packages and cost breakdowns Maintain cost databases and historical records for future use Participate in value engineering exercises and pre-bid meetings as needed
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating, with a strong focus on ground-up projects Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, ProEst, or similar) Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and building codes Excellent math, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (but not required with relevant experience)
