This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the fastest growing commercial flooring contractors in the Atlanta market. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with knowledge of, or professional interest in, the construction field. This position will report to our North Atlanta office daily. POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the VP Pre-construction, this position performs estimating tasks, gathers details, and compiles data as needed to generate accurate flooring estimates. An Estimator is responsible for all day-to-day pre-construction administrative and estimating tasks as defined by the department. Required skillset includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Proficiency in reading and understanding construction documents. 2. Knowledge of floor covering products such as Carpet, Hardwood, Vinyl, Ceramic Tile/Stone and knowledge of means and methods in flooring business environment. 3. An ability to accurately build out a warranty-proof assembly for each flooring scope. 4. Working knowledge MS Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft programs. 5. Proficiency in use of an estimating software (any). Further training will be provided to the right candidate. Attention to detail, accuracy and pride in both yourself and your team are essential to this position. The incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Downloads construction documents from General Contractor web sites and collects any relevant data for the completeness of the project
- Organizes work to be estimated to ensure projects meet deadlines
- Updates estimating project files as new information becomes available
- Prepares and sets up Measure files as per SOP and/or directives
- Collects and compiles all project data, cost data and other estimating tasks throughout the estimating cycle of a project within Pro Floors Pricing Solution System
- On limited basis, performs digitized take off using company provided software (RFMS Measure)
- Becomes proficient in company specific software and uses it efficiently to generate deliverables as required
- Engineers flooring assemblies and compiles bid estimates per plans, specifications, established industry guidelines and the department’s SOP
- Manages workload to ensure bids are submitted on time
- Updates bids in timely manner as new information becomes available
- Monitors and summarizes all notifications from GC relating to changes/updates on on-going basis, as related to flooring scope of work
- Compiles and puts together submittals within Pro Floors Pricing Solution System
- Monitors contract deadlines to ensure timelines are kept and all relevant information has been met.
- Collects product pricing and product data prior to bid submittal and/or at any time requested within Pro Floors Pricing Solution System
- Regularly follows up with clients on all submitted bid pricing
- Monitors tasks, reminders, deadlines, and follow-ups as required
- Review contracts for scope of work requirements/obligations
- Assists with projects and/or task assigned to the department as issued and delegated by VP of Pre-construction Requirements for
