Cost Estimator 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars Atlanta, GA On behalf of a client in the engineering industry, we are seeking a cost estimator to play a crucial role on a large-scale water and sewer program. The ideal candidate will possess a firm grasp on updating capital project costs, validating costs for active projects, and preparing Work Authorization proposals. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Atlanta, Georgia. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Conduct comprehensive reviews and updates of capital project costs, ensuring all cost data is accurate and reflective of current market conditions Perform detailed cost validation for ongoing water and sewer projects. Identify discrepancies and provide solutions to ensure project budgets are adhered to Prepare detailed cost estimates for Work Authorization proposals, collaborating with project managers and engineers to develop accurate and competitive proposals Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to develop cost estimates Analyze project requirements and specifications to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates Apply in-depth knowledge of construction methodologies specific to water and sewer projects Ensure estimates are based on sound construction practices and innovative solutions Communicate effectively with stakeholders, project managers, and engineers to ensure understanding and alignment on project costs Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and cost fluctuations, integrating market intelligence into cost estimates and project planning Maintain detailed records of all estimates, revisions, and final costings Prepare and present reports on cost estimates, variances, and project financial status Minimum qualifications and expectations include: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field Minimum of 10 years of experience in cost estimating within the construction industry, with a focus on water and sewer projects Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software (e.g., RSMeans, Sage Estimating, HCSS HeavyBid) Extensive understanding of construction methodologies, particularly in the water and sewer sector Strong analytical and numerical skills, with a keen eye for detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Emergent Method and associated entities are equal opportunity employers.
