Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team. This position is responsible for managing the entire proposal lifecycle, from receipt of RFQs through proposal submittal. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of electrical systems, excellent cost analysis skills, and the ability to translate technical documents into clear, concise, and competitive bids for both commercial and industrial projects. The Electrical Estimator will work closely with the operations team, clients, engineers/architects, and suppliers to ensure high-quality estimates are delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive and organize RFP/RFQ documentation and ensure full understanding of project requirements. Lead the preparation of complete proposal packages including cost estimates, technical narratives, and commercial responses. Generate technical submittals required by clients. Perform accurate manual quantity takeoffs from electrical drawings and specifications. Interpret electrical and instrumentation material specifications for accurate pricing of materials and labor. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor, supplier, and specialty service quotes. Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather essential project information. Collaborate on project schedules, execution plans, and risk assessments. Analyze and review project plans and drawings to understand the scope and develop accurate cost estimates. Develop detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical components such as wire, conduit, fixtures, panels, and other equipment. Identify and assess risks and develop contingency strategies related to scope, schedule, and cost. Maintain a high level of accuracy and consistency in cost calculations and proposal documentation. Ensure that all proposals comply with company standards, safety regulations, client requirements, and applicable codes.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3+ years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably with a focus on commercial or industrial construction. Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and specifications. Strong knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code), electrical construction means and methods, and local codes. Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple bids and meet tight deadlines. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cost assessments.
