CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Cost Estimator II to join our Commercial & Institutional – Cost Estimating Team at any of the following office locations: Albany, NY; Portland, ME; Boston, Burlington, or Norwell, MA; or Bethlehem, PA.

YOUR IMPACT

Our Cost Estimating team delivers high-quality, accurate cost consulting services to owners, architects, and construction managers at any stage from conceptual design through construction documents. With expertise in architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical estimating, we identify the implications of design and construction decisions and bring cost certainty to the project. Our estimates are accurate, prompt, and comprehensive, based on information from a nationwide network of contacts and careful analysis. The Cost Estimator II is responsible for executing high-quality accurate detailed cost estimates. This individual understands clients’ needs, meets their expectations, presents the estimate, and follows up with the client on any issues. This individual will perform the estimate in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet client requirements. The Cost Estimator II will have effective and clear communications while interfacing with clients, business partners, management, and colleagues. The Cost Estimator II will provide guidance, mentoring and training to team members. This role will foster business development and pursue new opportunities. REQUIREMENTS B.S.

degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience; Quantity Surveying Degree preferred
A minimum of 5 years of Construction Cost Estimating with a clear emphasis on site related issues
Certified Estimating Professional preferred but not required
Prior project management, survey or capital planning preferred
Experience using PlanSwift, On Center Screen Takeoff or Winest software preferred
Familiarity with CAD software is a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of General Construction industry laws, regulations, policies, and practices
Public and private construction process and procurement experience
Knowledge of Value Management (“value engineering”) practices
High level of accuracy in site cost estimating, as verified by bid returns
Ability to read and understand design and construction documents
Ability to complete quantity takeoffs for all levels of design (including conceptual)
Ability to work independently, and collaboratively interface within a team.
Positive, action-oriented individual with a ‘can-do’ mentality
Analysis and reporting of labor productivity, historical cost data, and life-cycle costs
Estimate reconciliation with independent cost estimators and construction manager’s estimators
Ability to track project cost estimates throughout the design process
Experience interfacing with clients, potential clients, vendors, and business partners with excellent communication and relationship-building skills
