Engineering Estimator Job Description Develop a robust understanding of Tank Division customers, services, and capabilities. Create effective quoting tools to standardize processes and develop entry-level estimators. Clarify and interpret customer requests for quotes and set up proposals to achieve requirements. Review customer prints, parts lists, CAD models, and other engineering documentation. Responsibilities Work with internal teams to develop manufacturing processes and cost estimates. Obtain supplier quotes for material, hardware, processing, subcontract, and shipping. Prepare quotes for each Tank Division customer request. Maintain an organized system for working on multiple quotes simultaneously. Review and analyze historical costs of produced parts for basis of estimates. Contact existing customers to enhance relationships, seek additional opportunities, and gather market information. Coordinate with management by submitting metrics and KPIs. Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, delivery schedules, and manufacturing capabilities. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending continuous training and educational sessions and participating in professional organizations. Contribute to long-term strategy by accomplishing related duties as needed. Essential Skills Proficiency in data entry and typing. Knowledge of estimating software. Experience in estimation and order entry. Ability to manage projects effectively. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating, quoting, or equivalent experience. Knowledge of metal manufacturing, industrial, or assembly processes is preferred. Experience working with engineering and technical buyers. A driven individual who is personable and a team player.
