Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced anddetail-oriented MEP Estimator to join our team at a leadingCommercial General Contractor . This role will be responsible forgathering, calculating, and compiling data to produce projectestimates. The MEP Estimator will prepare the full estimateindependently. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectivelywith a diverse team and manage multiple tasks while contributing tothe successful execution of commercial construction projects. Alsolooking for someone prepared to be in a precon manager role ratherquickly.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop detailed project estimatesfor MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems for commercialconstruction projects. Perform quantity takeoffs and materialsummaries. Request and evaluate trade partner bids, including timeprojections, to prepare vendor proposal comparisons and estimatesummary sheets. Assist in preparing, organizing, and coordinatingRequest for Proposal (RFP) documents and schedules, utilizingproject schedule information. Participate in plan reviews, estimatereview meetings, and site investigations as needed. Support thelead estimator in gathering relevant project information, such asgovernment permits, hearings, or other factors that may impact theproject. Maintain Addendum logs and documentation from customers orclients. Provide mentorship and guidance to new Estimators andEngineers joining the team. Build and maintain effectiverelationships with team members, trade partners, and clients.
Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Estimating,Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, ConstructionManagement, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimumof 5-10 years of construction operations experience, includingexposure to materials management and project operations, preferablyin commercial construction. Strong organizational skills andattention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Proficient in estimation software tools (e.g., ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win,On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Google Earth). Strong mathematicalabilities and familiarity with construction/estimating techniques.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the abilityto engage effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Apositive attitude and a strong customer service approach.
