Graham, NC, 27253 The Fabrication Estimator plays a crucial role in the metal fabrication industry by utilizing their expertise to accurately assess the costs associated with customer projects. This position requires a deep understanding of metal fabrication processes, allowing the estimator to provide precise estimates that reflect the true costs of materials, labor, and overhead. The estimator is responsible for maintaining comprehensive documentation that supports their estimates, ensuring transparency and accountability in the estimating process. In this role, the estimator will engage directly with customers to clarify project requirements, address concerns, and communicate effectively about the scope of work. They will utilize various measuring tools, including tapes, micrometers, and calipers, to gather necessary data for their estimates. Proficiency in reading and preparing blueprints using software such as AutoCAD is essential, as is the ability to calculate material quantity requirements based on drawing dimensions. The estimator will also be expected to develop strong relationships with vendors to secure the best pricing and delivery options for materials. This position may involve some onsite installation of products, requiring a confident and self-motivated individual who is eager to succeed. The work environment can be demanding, with physical requirements including lifting heavy materials and working in a machine shop setting, which may expose the estimator to various hazards. Personal protective equipment and safety training will be provided to mitigate these risks. Responsibilities Perform all duties safely and in compliance with company policies., Utilize knowledge of metal fabrication processes to estimate project costs accurately. , Provide design, layout, and cost estimates for projects., Address customer concerns and clarify project requirements. , Use measuring tools such as tapes, micrometers, and calipers effectively., Read and prepare blueprints using AutoCAD, or similar software. , Coordinate and schedule customer meetings to gather project requirements., Communicate with customers to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements. , Review design options and recommend solutions based on cost, quality, and material availability., Calculate material quantity requirements from drawing dimensions. , Develop relationships with vendors to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery., Prepare quotes and documentation using Word or Excel. , Reverse engineer sample parts for quoting purposes., Perform onsite installation of products as required. 55K to 60 K annual salary
