Full Job Description Description:

This is a full-time, direct placement role at Bryant-Durham Services .

SCOPE OF WORK

Work will consist of determining the electrical cost for renovation, addition and new construction work with values from $100.00 to $25,000,000.00 for public, private and government projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for reviewing all drawings, specifications and changes throughout the bid period and develop detailed pricing for all areas within our scope of work as defined by the project. 1) Confirm that all drawings and specs are complete per the list of documents. 2) Review the Bid Form and all alternates, unit prices and breakout prices required to ensure a complete and proper estimate. 3) Complete Project Information List for quick reference of job specific conditions by others including estimators, chief estimator, project managers and supervisors. 4) Takeoff from the plans and specs all material and complete direct entry into the company’s estimating software. Begin with any items to be quoted by outside vendors/subs and then follow the Order of Estimate thereafter. 5) Compile complete bill of materials for all quotables and then notify at least three qualified vendors/subcontractors of the pricing needs and requirements. 6) Notate on plans using colored pencils/markers each item as it is taken off. 7) Determine prices and labor rates for all non-standard items. 8) Upon takeoff completion review all work for accuracy and completeness. Correct any problems. 9) Print entire estimate with all alternates/breakouts as both a system breakdown and a combined material list. 10) Complete preliminary Bid Summary including all special job considerations including over-time, safety, direct job expenses, equipment, price escalations, etc. to provide a complete job cost. 11) Prepare a spread sheet for all quoted items expected to be bid on company-provided form. 12) Prepare a Bidders List and communicate with all GC/CM bidders to both identify us as a bidder and to confirm any special needs with each including bid day contact name, phone, fax and/or email prior to bid day. 13) At bid time, receive all vendor/subcontractor quotes and confirm accuracy and completion. Record on company-provided form. 14) Assist management with all activities on bid day to assure a complete bid submission prior to the deadline.

WORKING CONDITIONS – ALL ELEMENTS INSIDE AND OUT

1. Job requires working in an office setting. 2. Job may require construction site visits and meetings outside of the office. 3. Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses) and other equipment when required. 4. Able to work scheduled daily hours, forty hours per week, overtime and/or nights, as required. 5. Requirements:
LICENSES

Current driver’s license and have own transportation to the office. Clean driving record required for use of company vehicle if required to attend meetings/site visits. Electrical – NC Electrical Contractors License encouraged.

EDUCATION

High school graduate, holder of GED or equivalent training.

EXPERIENCE

Has two years or more of previous electrical field experience (commercial/industrial/institutional).

TESTING:

Drug testing is required.

Skills:

1. Positively identify colors. 2. Ability to read, comprehend and interpret drawings and specifications. 3. Ability to work without close supervision. 4. Must be proficient using a computer including MS Office software and estimating software. 5. Ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced work environment with strict deadlines. 6. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 7. Must be very organized, detail oriented and efficient.

Physical Functions:

1. Work is generally sedentary but may require some standing and walking. 2. Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers. 2. Lift drawings and specifications. 7. Possess good vision (normal or corrected). 8. Possess good hearing (normal or corrected). 9. Communicate clearly orally and in writing in the English language. 10. Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street to office building. 11. Must be able to make transition from parking area or street with PPE and equipment needed into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use.
