Electrical Distribution Engineer I Job Description We are seeking a motivated individual with an engineering degree to join our team as a Distribution Engineer. This role focuses on distribution projects, offering a blend of design development and coordination, with training provided by experienced engineers. The position primarily involves performing engineering calculations such as structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices. Additional responsibilities include preparing forestry trimming requests, facilitating permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, developing a Bill of Materials (BOM), and estimating costs. The role is primarily office-based, with occasional fieldwork after several months on the job. Responsibilities Perform engineering calculations including structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices. Prepare forestry trimming requests and facilitate permit and Right-of-Way acquisition. Develop a Bill of Materials (BOM) and estimate project costs. Focus on design development and coordination for distribution projects. Engage in fieldwork as required after several months of experience. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering. Proficiency in AutoCAD. Knowledge of power distribution. 0+ years of experience in a relevant field. Additional Skills & Qualifications Completed ABET 4-year Engineering Degree with no outstanding credits. Passion and interest in power utilities and distribution. Experience with CAD design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Solidworks, MicroStation, Inventor, and MATLAB, etc.. Valid driver’s license. Work Environment This position is fully on-site in Durham, North Carolina, within an office environment that includes Designers, Engineers, and Design Technicians supporting distribution projects.
