Job Description:
Construction Junior Estimator Overview A Junior Estimator in the construction industry plays a crucial role in the pre-construction phase of projects. This position involves analyzing project specifications, preparing cost estimates, and assisting in the development of budgets for construction projects. The role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a basic understanding of construction processes and materials.
Key Responsibilities Cost Estimation:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documentation.
Data Analysis:
Collect and analyze data on labor, materials, and equipment costs to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
Budget Development:
Assist in the development of project budgets and financial plans, working closely with project managers and other stakeholders.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and other relevant project documentation.
Collaboration:
Work closely with project teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to gather necessary information and ensure project requirements are met.
Software Utilization:
Use estimating software and other tools to prepare and present estimates efficiently.
Continuous Learning:
Stay updated on industry trends, construction methods, and new materials to improve estimation accuracy.
Qualifications Experience:
Previous experience in a similar role or internships in the construction industry is advantageous but not mandatory.
Skills:
Strong analytical and mathematical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Familiarity with construction estimating software (e.g., ProEst, HCSS, or similar). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Working Conditions Environment:
Typically office-based with occasional site visits to construction projects.
Hours:
Standard business hours, Monday thru Friday 8 am – 5pm
Travel:
Minimal travel may be required for site visits or meetings with clients and project teams.
