The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial door, frame, and hardware projects. This includes reviewing architectural plans, analyzing specifications, coordinating with vendors, and working closely with project managers, sales, and engineering teams to ensure comprehensive and timely proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

Analyze architectural drawings, specifications, and addenda to develop accurate take-offs and material lists for commercial door, frame, and hardware projects. Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, labor, hardware, submittals, and miscellaneous items. Source and solicit pricing from suppliers and manufacturers for doors, frames, and hardware. Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and contractors to ensure scope alignment and accurate proposals. Maintain and update internal estimating systems, pricing databases, and historical cost information. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client consultations as needed. Review and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ADA, fire-rated openings, building codes). Prepare bid packages, proposals, and formal RFP responses. Track and follow up on submitted bids to determine outcome and gather market feedback. Assist in value engineering efforts and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications:

Required:

3+ years of experience in commercial door and hardware estimating or a related construction estimating role. In-depth knowledge of Division 8 specifications, including hollow metal doors, wood doors, aluminum entrances, and door hardware. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical specifications. Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Avaware, Bluebeam, or similar tools). Excellent mathematical and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.

Preferred:

AHC (Architectural Hardware Consultant) or other DHI certifications. Experience in AutoCAD or other drafting software. Familiarity with building codes and fire door requirements. Background in project management or sales support is a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

Standard office environment with some site visits required. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
