Estimator Position Available In Essex, New Jersey

McKinsey & Company Inc. US is seeking a Estimator in Newark, NJ. Prepare capital cost estimates for clients in the pharmaceutical, oil and gas, chemical process and energy industries. Support client risk analysis workshops & the use of statistical models to determine project contingency. Research wage rates, worker productivities, and escalation for project estimates globally. On a day-to-day basis, this involves escalating bottom-up estimates to align with the projected start of construction. This process includes analyzing commodity price forecasts, labor rates, and productivity benchmarks to provide reliable and comprehensive cost estimations. Assist in managing and building a metadata set of projects and information in an SQL database to support continuous improvement in project benchmarking, allowing the project team to access more robust and comprehensive data for improved accuracy and reliability in their estimates. Develop project scope and quantities for major capital projects by collaborating closely with clients to gather essential information. Through client input and expert interviews, conceptual estimates are created, ensuring that all critical aspects of the project are considered and accurately reflected in the estimates. Deploy estimating software tools including in-house programs and Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (ACCE). Support development of new proprietary tools, benchmarking databases and market perspectives. This includes gathering and analyzing information, formulating and testing hypotheses and developing communication and recommendations. Translate recommendations into actionable steps by incorporating them into the estimate scope and developing comprehensive capital cost estimates based on additional client-provided details, ensuring alignment with project objectives and updated requirements. Focus on building and scaling analytical solutions used for engagement across portfolio optimization, project development and value improvement project execution, cost and schedule diagnostic. Telecommuting permitted.

Qualified applicants for this position must possess Master’s degree in engineering field or foreign degree equivalent. Qualified applicants for this positions must have a minimum one (1) year of experience in project management or project control role.

Experience must include:

Modeling capability using Excel and managing large datasets; Preparing accurate capital cost estimates and managing project risks; Managing project schedules and controls for capital projects; Proficiency with advance analytical tools including Power BI.
