Estimator New York Glass and Storefronts 505 East Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station, NY 11746 Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the construction process by providing accurate cost estimates and ensuring effective project management from inception to completion. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to negotiate contracts effectively. The Estimator will work closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure that all aspects of the project are accounted for in the budgeting process. Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, and overhead costs. Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets and timelines. Utilize software tools such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam for estimating and project management tasks. Conduct site visits to gather information on existing conditions and project requirements. Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing. Monitor ongoing projects for cost control and adherence to budgetary constraints. Provide support during the bidding process by preparing bid proposals and presenting estimates to clients. Experience Proven experience in construction estimating or related field is essential. Strong understanding of construction management principles and practices. Proficiency in using estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam is highly desirable. Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong negotiation skills with experience in contract discussions preferred. Familiarity with cost control measures and techniques within the construction industry. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
