Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Estimator to join our team in Bohemia, NY. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong background in estimating for manufacturing, aerospace, defense, construction, or similar industries. You will play a critical role in project planning, cost analysis, and proposal development, helping to ensure competitive and accurate bids and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for complex projects from concept through final proposal. Analyze specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare accurate time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to gather input for estimates. Identify cost risks and opportunities; recommend value engineering options where applicable. Support pricing strategy, proposal development, and customer negotiations. Maintain and update cost estimating databases, tools, and historical data for future reference. Track actual costs versus estimated costs to improve forecasting accuracy. Stay current on market trends, materials pricing, and labor rates.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in cost estimating, preferably in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, construction, or a related field. Proven ability to create accurate estimates for complex, technical projects. Strong analytical and mathematical skills with high attention to detail. Proficiency in cost estimating software and tools (e.g., ProEst, RSMeans, Excel, ERP systems). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience will be considered).
Work Environment:
This is a fully on-site role based in Bohemia, NY . Candidates must be able to reliably commute or relocate before starting.
