Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and design-savvy Drafter / Estimator to join our growing team. This dual role position supports the project lifecycle from early design concepts through accurate cost estimating. The ideal candidate has experience in custom home design and drafting, and a deep appreciation for fine building, craftsmanship, and architectural detailing. You will play a vital role in bridging design with construction feasibility and cost clarity. Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed drawings and drafting sets for custom residential projects using CAD or similar software.
- Interpret architectural designs and translate concepts into buildable, code-compliant construction documents.
- Collaborate with designers, project managers, and clients to refine plans and address technical details.
- Develop detailed estimates and budgets based on plans, material specs, and craftsmanship requirements.
- Source and evaluate material and subcontractor pricing to support accurate job costing.
- Participate in value engineering and constructability reviews to ensure design integrity meets budget goals.
- Maintain documentation and version control for all drawings, specifications, and estimate revisions.
- Support the pre-construction and proposal process by preparing visual and numeric documentation for client presentation. Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience in drafting, architectural design, or estimating within custom residential construction.
- Strong knowledge of fine craftsmanship, luxury finishes, and building practices.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar drafting software.
- Familiar with residential building codes, permitting requirements, and material take-offs.
- Meticulous attention to detail and an eye for design integrity and construction practicality.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative environment and communicating clearly with clients and trade partners.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines with accuracy and efficiency. Preferred Qualifications
- 3-7 years of experience in drafting or estimating roles within high-end homebuilding or residential architecture.
- Degree or technical certification in architecture, drafting, construction management, or related field.
- Experience with estimating software (e.g., Buildertrend, CoConstruct, PlanSwift, or similar) is a plus. Compensation and Benefits
