Residential Service Technician – Flooring repairs The Residential Service Technician – Flooring is responsible for providing outstanding customer service while handling warranty repairs, replacements, and minor installations of flooring products. This role requires expertise in diagnosing and addressing flooring-related concerns for homeowners and builders while ensuring quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction.
Skills & Qualifications Level I:
High school diploma, GED, or 3 years of relevant experience. 1 to 3 years of experience in flooring installation or repair. Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance as required by state law. Experience in at least one flooring type: tile, carpet, wood, or luxury vinyl plank (LVP).
Level II:
(In addition to Level I qualifications) 2 to 5 years of flooring experience. Ability to diagnose and repair minor flooring issues (tile replacement, carpet stretching, LVP replacement). Strong verbal communication and customer service skills. Good organizational skills to manage service schedules and materials.
Level III:
(In addition to Level II qualifications) 5+ years of flooring experience. Expertise in handling larger flooring replacements and repairs. Ability to work across multiple flooring types and materials. Experience mentoring and training junior technicians.
Essential Functions Level I:
Perform basic flooring repairs and touch-ups. Assist with minor installations and post-installation touch-ups. Support logistics for flooring production installations. Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Other duties as assigned.
Level II:
(In addition to Level I responsibilities) Handle homeowner and builder service requests. Diagnose and document flooring issues. Coordinate and schedule service calls with technicians or independent contractors. Initiate and oversee warranty claims with vendors. Confirm completion of service appointments. Other duties as assigned.
Level III:
(In addition to Level II responsibilities) Perform complex flooring repairs and full replacements across multiple flooring types. Lead and train junior technicians on repair techniques. Manage larger service projects, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction. Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods (8+ hours). Ability to lift and carry materials as required for flooring repairs and installations. Work Environment Work performed at residential construction sites, completed homes, and occasionally in an office setting. Exposure to dust, adhesives, and other materials related to flooring installations and repairs.
