Job Summary:
Assist in fabrication and assembly of custom Switchgear structures of varying size and scope to meet client and product specs and prepare the same for shipment. Good understanding of machinery safety Use hand and small power tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, drills as required. Must be able to read and understand blueprints. Infrequent travel may be required for install/service. Job Status (FLSA):

Based at the DVM Shop in Naugatuck, CT, other locations as assigned.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
The following list of responsibilities is not all inclusive, additional projects and/or tasks may be assigned to meet operational needs. DVM retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position should operational needs warrant. Assist with the handling of raw steel and copper. Assist in operation of metal shop machinery, including punch, brake, shear and saws. Weld sheet metal goods and prep for coating. Assemble metalwork and handle sheet metal goods. Follow blueprint diagrams. Be proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools. Fabrication, including saw cutting and drilling. May be required to cross train, supporting other sections of the Company. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to read blue prints. Follow verbal directions to meet production schedule. Ability to use ruler, scale, tape measure, calipers Possess basic tools including gear wrenches, impact gun, torque wrenches, metric & standard sockets. High dedication to quality of results to avoid rework. Ability to work under pressure/ time constraints. Able to work with minimal direction and achieve objectives.
Additional skills for consideration:
Welding certification. Forklift experience and/or certification. Carpentry skills.

Education and Experience:
Minimum 2 years in general mechanical or metal working or associated field. Experience in the use of hand tools and hand power tools Valid driver’s license (for service-related positions). Satisfactory completion of additional background screening.
Physical Requirements :
Typical of a Manufacturing/Warehouse floor. May be cold in winter, warm in summer. Noise level commensurate with machine operation, fork trucks, general industrial activity. Prolonged periods of standing, squatting, kneeling may be necessary. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 50lbs. Must be able to read, understand basic schematic/ blueprint. Must be able to communicate effectively using phones or computer software. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the assigned facilities. Must be able to travel between DVM locations as needed, some travel could require overnight stays.
