Summary:
The registered and certified pharmacy technician II works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists to provide distributive pharmacy services and support to the pharmacy department. Additionally, provides a high level of assistance in distribution, dispensing, and compounding of sterile and non-sterile medications, and related supplies in compliance with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
Responsibilities:
Process medication charges/credits when applicable. Performs prescription data entry in pharmacy system when applicable. Responsible for assisting with orientation and training of new pharmacy technicians and students . Maintains and supports medication distribution systems and distribution channels, including automated dispensing cabinets, code carts, trays and kits. Completes other responsibilities as assigned in support of pharmacy operations and within the pharmacy technician scope of practice. Assists with customer service and patient needs, including answering telephones, managing work queues and completing medication histories. Prepares non-sterile compounded medications, including hazardous medications and cross trains in more advance functions when deem appropriate Prepares, fills, receives, delivers, stocks and restocks medication inventory and supplies for the pharmacy department and drug storage areas. Repackages bulk medications.
