Shipfitter B&D Contracting, Inc.
Pascagoula, MS Overview:
We are currently seeking a skilled Shipfitter to join our team. As a Shipfitter, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing various components of ships and vessels. This is a hands-on position that requires expertise in power tools, welding, sheet metal work, and precision measuring instruments.
Duties:
- Fabricate and assemble metal components for ship construction and repair
- Use power tools and hand tools to cut, shape, and weld metal materials
- Perform sheet metal work including bending, shaping, and forming
- Rig and lift heavy materials and equipment as needed
- Conduct electrical work related to ship systems
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers to ensure accurate dimensions
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Shipfitter or similar role in shipbuilding or repair industry
- Proficient in using power tools and hand tools for cutting, shaping, and welding metal materials
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal work techniques and practices
- Familiarity with rigging procedures for lifting heavy objects
- Ability to perform electrical work related to ship systems is a plus
- Experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers
- Capable of performing heavy lifting tasks as required
- Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications accurately
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work
